Description:  Back by popular demand, John will share his profound expertise on lasers, focusing on practical applications.  This 4- hour course will include the theories of light as they apply to medicine, technology updates, how to accomplish those safety requirements, case review and recommendations, how complications may be avoided through a better understanding of device settings, maximizing outcomes and endpoints.  John will take you from the basic foundations of light principals and gently walk you through to a more precise understanding of these technologies using everyday analogies.

Description:  This is a comprehensive, interactive course designed to address all aspects of planning, developing and building a successful plastic surgical skincare practice. It will cover everything from developing the business plan, start up costs, designing the physical space, developing protocols, services and retail, legal issues, team building, marketing and promotional events. Audience participation will be encouraged. This course is not only designed for the novice skincare specialist, but could benefit potential start-up practices, and existing practices (experienced skincare specialists, nurses and ancillary management personnel), that need a motivating business planning update.

Description: This is a master’s level course revealing the new Injectable Thread Lift™ technique, intended for those practitioners that want to take their injecting to the next highest level of creativity. This technique offers your patient the latest concept in non-surgical, injectable facial contouring. In this class we will be focusing on intentional volume reassignmnent in the nasolabial folds and oral commisures.  We will also be discussing the ability to use the technique in the cheeks, brows, chins, and jowls. This class will contain a didactic portion, and the remainder of the time will be spent watching a hands-on demonstration of the procedure.

This comprehensive course, designed for core aesthetic physicians, nurses and aestheticians, will provide participants a full day of information that is vital to the success of today’s aesthetic practice.  The business aspect of the cosmetic medicine practice with a special emphasis on necessary services and supervision will be discussed.  From a clinical perspective, the faculty will present a review/update on the growing array of non-surgical cosmetic options available for rejuvenation of the face/body.  Treatment rationale and clinical applications for a variety of modalities will be covered including the use of skin care, energy-based devices, non-invasive modalities for body contouring, neurotoxins and the variety of soft-tissue fillers available today.  Live patient treatments will be featured throughout the day to enhance the educational experience with an emphasis on ways to ensure safe and effective outcomes. 

Newly added this year – A series of case studies demonstrating results (4-6 months) with energy-based devices as well as dermal fillers and neurotoxins will be presented by the faculty.

Desired outcomes:

  1. Summarize the business process of running a cosmetic medicine practice
  2. Critically assess the array of non-surgical technology and products that are available for skin tone, body appearance and shape and discuss how best to incorporate these into your practice
  3. Develop a more effective communication strategy to help ensure safe and satisfactory patient outcomes by discussing the patient’s goals and helping them to understand what is realistic, based on their circumstances
  4. Explain pain management options for minimally invasive aesthetic procedures (with the patient) and make appropriate decisions based on the discussion
  5. Demonstrate emerging uses of energy-based devices and describe how to use the device(s) to maximize patient outcomes and safety
  6. When injecting botulinum toxin type a, demonstrate an understanding of various product options in order to achieve the desired result
  7. When injecting dermal fillers, demonstrate:
    a.  Adequate knowledge of product characteristics to effectively distinguish
    among the variety of available products
    b.  Knowledge of appropriate depth of injection and specific injection techniques in
    order to ensure optimal outcomes
  8. Evaluate advanced injection techniques with dermal fillers and neurotoxins:
    a.  Specific to certain areas of the face/body
    b.  Specific to combination therapy
  9. Explain and implement techniques to help avoid/mange complications with dermal fillers and neurotoxins

The off-label use of injectables for nasal shaping will be discussed.
